The History of the Physical Education Department discusses the history of athletics at the North Shore Country Day School from 1919-1987. It was compiled and written by longtime NSCDS Coach Martin J. McCarty, also known as Mac McCarty, and edited by then school historian Nancy Geyer Christopher. The book focuses on the school's sports teams in the context of founding headmaster Perry Dunlap Smith's "Athletics for All" obligatory participation model of integrating athletics into the lives and everyday of his students.
